News Release 09.02.08

Old Ethamians Cricket Club today announced that it has been awarded the prestigious Focus Club Status by the England and Wales County Cricket Board (ECB). This award recognises the commitment the club has demonstrated over the past 3 years to the development of junior talent through its work at both the club's Foxbury Ground and the wider local community. This award entitles Old Elthamians to apply for development grants to extend its coaching programmes to more local schools and links the OE's to a network of over 1,000 ECB accredited clubs throughout the UK working towards the future of domestic cricket.

"We are thrilled that our efforts to encourage participation at all levels and age groups in junior cricket have been recognised by the ECB. We are looking forward to another record year of junior membership and achievement at both our winter and summer coaching programmes", said Robin Driscoll, Junior Section Chairman, Old Elthamians.

OEs currently have 8 junior and 5 senior sides offering opportunity for all abilities and levels of experience - each playing an average of 14 games per season at venues throughout the north Kent area and beyond. With an overseas professional secured to compliment the team of qualified coaches that co-ordinate club training sessions, anyone interested in joining either the junior or senior sections of the club can do so by contacting Frances on 07751 133190.
