U13 DIV1 vs Bromley

Well, lets chalk this one down as a good reality check and hopefully the place from which we build a very good team.
There is no hiding from this, we were thoroughly trounced, but as always I do have positives and we do see a path forward.
Firstly we gave away 23 extras of which 6 were byes which is less than half of what we gave away against Bexley. The bowling was much better, taking 4 wickets and narrowly missing a 5th wicket. The fielding was generally good although we could have done better to the tune of 15-20 runs. Still some way to go but we are making progress in the field. Also I should say being two down in the field did not help although Max's younger brother and a Bromley player on loan did chip in, but these things have a way of unsettling the mojo of the team.
Man of the match went to Charley you got a terrific run out, a caught and bowled and is making excellent progress with the batting.
What I loved most is that after the match I asked the boys what went wrong and what we could do about it and the responses were quite excellent. The verdict was confidence which affected batting technique and attitude were key parts and suggested in Friday training we should do scenarios on the Astro, I.e. instead of trying to score 8 off 6 in the nets, you try and do it on the pitch and put yourself under pressure. I agreed with everything mentioned and the next step for our boys is to learn how to score off good bowling which I believe will also provide the extra confidence boost. I've requested the coaching staff run a test scenario match on Friday, so I hope all the boys can make training.
