Last Sunday produced a blistering start to the season as the U9 fun bus rolled into the Chislehurst Cricket Ground!
With the blue stumps glistening in the sun (honest), there was a buzz of great anticipation amongst the passing dog walkers as our U9s arrived in great numbers, ready to send the bails flying!
After an AC-12 style grid search to check for any unwanted 'gifts', play was underway!
Split into teams of 6, the round-robin tournament produced pulsating action from the off. With no boundaries in this format of the game, some quick footwork and thinking resulted in singles being turned into 3's and 4's courtesy of some aggressive running and even more aggressive throws at the stumps! We even witnessed an '8'!
Amidst the run-fest, we witnessed some fantastic 'express' bowling and even a hat-rick on pitch. As the morning progressed, whilst the weather faded, the spirit of OEs certainly didn't and it was great to see so many of the players having fun and bonding as a team.
There were many new members playing their first matches and it was a real pleasure see the nerves disappear, replaced with smiles and encouragement for their new team-mates.
Thanks to everyone for contributing to a relaxed and friendly atmosphere...oh and the cricket was great too!
See you at training
