Well we did not win but it was a really good end to the season. Nice opposition, great setting and a good group of boys playing as a good team unit. The number of wides and no balls we gave away suggests some time in the nets is needed and I'm hoping many of the boys move onto winter nets before next season. What I also see is a real positivity around batting and great energy in the field with 3 catches and a stumping, all good signs of quality hardball cricket. We had a couple of our players run out and we certainly left a few runs un-taken out there but not many, so I would say the boys are starting to turn running between the wickets into a strength. Some of the boys need more work on keeping the good balls out but most wickets were due to the boys just going for it, at this level I really applaud that. Some really exciting things for us to work on as well, such as different shot options to turn dots into 1's and 1's into 4's and that will make for some super fun nets sessions in the winter!
Lastly you have to say what a great team spirit and good sportsmanship exists within this group and the squad in general. I can see most if not all the boys have progressed over the season and next season we will see more of the squad beginning to learn about fielding positions and match management.
Finally, man of the match was fiercely contested with George, Zak, Neil and Thomas all having great games, but in the end it went quite deservedly to Harrison for his 23 off 35 and 2 wickets for 3 runs off one over, well done Harrison!
