Thanks to parents and kids for this morning, a thoroughly entertaining match.

We executed plans to perfection (watching the ball and batting deep into the chase) and played to our strengths (spin on this wicket, whereas the other team only had pacers and it showed).

Dan (4), Yuvan (2), Xav and Dhruv (1 each) amongst the wickets to keep the total down, ably supported by some very tactical field sets with boundary riders on all sides to limit the runs in a dry and bumpy outfield.

Rocco set the tone for the chase, watching the ball til the end and using the pace to run it to the boundary on many occasions to build a solid opening partnership, unbeaten for the first 10 overs. George continued to lead from the front as captain in taking the chase deep all the way until his wicket in the penultimate over, with excellent shots (a cover drive that was the shot of the day) and tireless running between the wickets with Dhruv & Xav. In the end, the last two overs left us with a little too many to get, but that didn’t take away anything from the game, much to be proud about.

Many players didn’t get to do as much individually with the ball or bat this match given the long bowling spells to keep the total manageable and the long batting partnerships strung together in the chase. But everybody’s contribution and attitude shone through and we will look to make sure that everyone gets time in the middle in what remains of the season.
